PIVOT SPORTS MEDICINE

The Pivot project was a proposed design solution to an unusual and troubling situation for the clinic. Pivot Sports Medicine & Orthopedic sits in a narrow two-story building in the Bloor West Village of Downtown Toronto. The clinic is at the top, while a staircase occupies the lower story entirely. Pivot recognizes the inconvenience of the stairs, and see the irony that is often casted when visitors make a trip to the center.

The irony — a patient with a knee injury finds it challenging to climb up a set of stairs. To acquire professional treatment, the patient must attempt to climb a set of stairs to get the necessary help. The clinic initially proposed a wall design with positive and motivating messages to encourage clients to seek a healthier lifestyle. Together with Garbett Design, a mountain-inspired wall solution was proposed.

BELOW — In the proposed design solution, Pivot visitors can compare the flight of staircase to the challenge of climbing a mountain.  As the person climbs the stair case, they will be meet with stair climbing facts that gives insights into the benefits of this activity. Other interesting general health facts will be included as well, and once the visitor reaches the top, they will be welcomed with a congratulatory message on the floor. The objective of the the Mountain theme is to encourage visitors of Pivot to take the stairs, and the implied goal, is to send the message that the patient's journey to getting better already started as they took the stairs.

MARIANDA TIME

The images below show the planning and development to building the Marianda Time brand and visual identity. The foundation of the brand's look & feel comes from the narrative specifically designed for it. The brand's core characteristic is its "homestyle" concept. All creative content carries a rustic yet elegant look. Starting with the logo design, a vintage-esque inspired logotype was created to bring back that sense of "old-time, homestyle" feel.

The brand's colour palette follows the concept, as it includes warm-toned golden brown and a warmed tone charcoal black. These toned were carefully selected to reflect an old-fashioned, homey kitchen feel.

For the brand's packaging, specialty Kraft and Recycled papers are used for boxing, labels and all printed materials. The selection of Kraft stock reinforces the "rustic" quality set for the brand. Throughout the web and packaging design, custom illustrations of cupcakes can be seen. The inclusion of these hand-drawn art is done to capture the brand's visual identity of "homestyle" sweet treats even more.

BELOW — Full logo design of Marianda Time's logo. The top portion of the logo features an "M" as a cupcake are the brand's specialty product. The "M" also references the owner's name. This section of the logo is primarily used for the brand's social medias (ex. icon) or when reproduced on small surfaces. The bottom portion of the logo can be found on Marianda's packaging and printed goods.

BELOW — Shows the planning and developing stage to creating a narrative to reinforce the Brand's identity. On Marianda's website, user will be able to learn more about the brand, what sets them apart, and why their ingredients and product lineup is so special and unique. The core values is openly presented on the home page. Sharing these information on the site is integral as it makes the brand more personable, and allow customers to feel welcomed and invited. Transparency with the brand's ingredient, and how they use it in their products, builds trust and also strengthens the brand's identity of being "Homestyle sweet treats."

Below shows the logo being used when box imprinted on their packaging, and reproduced as sticker labels.
